A PC computer, with a hard drive that you can completely erase, and a CD-ROM Drive. I tested with a Pentium II 400 Mhz with 256Mb RAM and a 20GB hard drive and this was more than adequate.
Red Hat 8.0, discs one, two, and three. You can buy these from a store or download and burn your own.
OpenACS and supporting software. You can download all of the pieces (see Appendix B or download a 24Mb mega-tarball or an ISO image for a CD-ROM.
A network address (host name, IP address, netmask, gateway, and DNS server). Without this, you can still build a server and play with OpenACS but it won't connect to the network.
Another computer with a working ssh client - this is a big convenience because after the first thirty steps or so you can just cut and paste most of this.
